Run for Fun?
What in the world am I saying? I can't believe it either. When I was in school, I was in good shape because of playing different sports. Even when I graduated and going to college I was in pretty good shape. I would run, play racquetball and was pretty active. Just like most of us, after getting married and staying busy with ministry or jobs, I became a "more rounded" person. My activities became more of office activities instead of "exercising" activities. There have been a few times when I would get back to walking or playing racquetball but it would fade with business. Yes, I admit, there was some laziness in there, too. lol!
When I was gone to a Fire Bible Summit in California a few weeks ago, I called home to chat with my beautiful wife. As we talked, she told me that she had made a goal to run a 5k with Ashlyn. I paused for a moment and said....okay. She continued to explain that she had found a running program called "The Couch to 5K" running program. Now, before I go any further, you must remember that Krystal is not a runner and she doesn't really do anything athletic. That's not a "slam" or "insult" but just the truth. She would tell you the same thing. After explaining the running program Couch to 5K, I was excited for her. She began running the program with a friend and pushed herself.
She was faced with a "test" because we were heading out on vacation fo

Today, Krystal finished week three and I began it. I am so proud of Krystal and a little surprised in myself. It's not an easy program but it has become fun. We talk to each other about our runs and how we struggled and then overcame. It has been a stretch but a fun one. Ashlyn is running but she has a head start because of all the sports that she is involved with.
Krystal has set a goal and she is looking at running her first 5k in September. You Go Girl!!!!! I'll keep updating on how our Run For Fun is going! One last thing, we welcome your comments and encouragement!
